Beautifully Broken Chapter1 Part2
Looking up, I looked at every person in the room, trying to figure who would send me a note.
“Pst shawty. It was me.”
“Looking over, I saw Justin smirking over at me.
“Mr. Bieber. This is detention, not social hour. Finish your homework.”
Rolling my eyes, I pushed the note to the side and continued working on the problem. In the middle of the second problem, another piece of paper landed on my desk. Looking over at Justin, he pointed to the note with his head.
Unfolding it, I read what was scrawled over it.
After detention, wanna stop at the diner and get something to eat?
Glancing over at him, I quickly scribbled a ‘No’ on the note and slipped it onto his desk. He quickly unfolded it and was scribbling something onto it. He made sure Mr. Parks wasn’t looking before passing it back.
Why not?
I glanced over at him before glancing up at Mr. Parks and scribbling my reply.
Because I’m busy.
I threw the paper onto his desk and finally finished problem two. Right as I was finishing problem four, the note was thrown back onto my desk.
With what?
Just as I was about to reply, Mr. Parks stood up from his desk. “Okay. Detention is over. You may all leave.”
Everyone jumped out of their seats, rushing for the door. I threw my books into my bag before throwing it over my shoulder and standing up. After exiting the classroom, I started towards the end of the halls.
“Wait up!” Justin called from behind me. Stopping, I waited till Justin was beside me before continuing down the hall. “So, are you going to give me an answer?”
“To what?”
“What you’re busy with?”
“I’m busy with life.”
“Come on. It won’t take that long. We can get it to go if you want.”
I glanced at him from the corner of my eye, trying to read his expression. I couldn’t tell if he was trying to mess with me or if he really wanted to stop somewhere to eat.
“Fine but only if we get it to go.”
“Deal. I’ll drive.”
He grabbed my hand and started running towards the door. Pushing them open, he led me over to his car.
“What’s the rush?”
“I don’t know. Just really want to get out of this school.”
He opened the door for me and I gladly got in. Putting my seat belt on I sat back and watched as Justin slipped into the car and put the key into the ignition and revving the engine.
“Have you ever been to Dana’s Diner?”
“I don’t believe I have.”
“You’ve missed out. Their food is amazing.”
He sped out of the parking it and down the road, opposite from my house. Before I knew it, we were in front of the diner and Justin had already parked the car.
“You coming?” he called out. He had already gotten out of the car and was standing in front of the car.
Quickly opening the door, I stepped out and followed him inside.
“Welcome to Dana’s diner. What can I help you with?”
“We’d like to place a to go order. I’d like the burger plate and she’d like the…”
“I’ll have the same as him.”
“Okay. Your order will be right up.”
I leaned back against the wall, watching as the lady disappeared into the back of the restraint.
“You live close to here?”
“I actually live the opposite way. If you’re walking from school, I live a block away.”
“What neighborhood do you live in?”
“Maple Street Way.”
“I live in that neighborhood too.”
“Maybe we’re neighbors.”
“Maybe.”
The lady reappeared a few minutes later with our food in her hands. Handing them over to me, Justin paid for the food then we exited the restaurant. Getting back into his car, we made our way back towards the school.
After passing the school and pulling into our neighborhood, Justin drove down the road at a slower pace, waiting for me to give him directions.
“My house is the tenth house down.”
“Just tell me when I’m close.”
He drove a little further and I finally signaled for him to stop.
“This is your house?”
“Yep,” I said, popping the p.
“We are indeed neighbors.”
“Well then, I’ll see you around I guess.”
“Sure. See you tomorrow.” Gathering my things, I was just opening the door and stepping out when I felt his hand grab my arm. “Would you like a ride to school tomorrow?”
“No thanks. I like walking.”
Climbing out of the car, I didn’t give him a chance to reply before closing the door and walking towards my house. Once inside, I threw my bags down and ran upstairs to my room with my container of food. Sitting back onto my bed, I eagerly started eating my burger while watching my favorite TV show: Beauty and the Beast.
Once I was finally finished, I went downstairs to take my medicine that was supposed to help me with my disease.
“Anna honey, you have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow before school.”
“Okay dad. Does that mean you want me to go to bed early?”
“Yes dear. Finish your homework then get ready for bed.”
“Okay. Love you.”
“I love you, too.”
Taking my medicine, I walked into the sitting room and grabbed my book bag and made my way back upstairs to my room. Throwing it down onto my bed, I fell back onto my bed and stared up at my ceiling. Closing my eyes, I felt myself not wanting to open them and to just go to sleep. Reluctantly, I opened my eyes again and pulled my books out of my bag. Finishing the rest of Mr. Parks homework, I pushed his books to the side and fell back onto my pillows. Glancing out my window, I saw Justin peeking out of his window. He noticed me and waved. I waved back then pulled my blankets over me and turned to where I was facing the wall.
I was going to find it hard to fall asleep tonight knowing Justin Bieber was my neighbor.
