Thread: The Stranger on the Metro North

If you see this in comparison to how I write now, it's really different.

I gripped Justin's hand as we pushed the twins' stroller through the Metro North Station, heading for the train to Manhattan. We were in Westchester to do some last minute arrangements for the wedding. The next time we come here, it'd be in a white limo. A few people took out their cellphones and snapped pictures of us, and it felt weird despite us being together for so long. The heavy Nikon dangled from my neck and I was ready to stop at any moment to take a photograph of something from this day.
"What are you thinking about?" He whispered to me.
I bit my lip in deep thought.
"I think that it's going to be weird. It'll be the last time."
He gave me a sad smile, and nodded.
The wedding was a few days away. It was continuously pushed back, due to conflicting schedules. My job required me to always be at the photography studio, at least 3 days a week. Justin, likewise, was recording a new album. But we both decided to put our foot down and declare that our wedding would be in June. It was, after all, the month that we met. There was no better time. After the wedding, Justin and I would be moving to LA so that he could work closer to home. At the same time, I found a job with an L.A. Modeling Agency. The twins would be enrolled in Day Care, and everything would be settled.
It made me incredibly sad to leave New York. It was the only place I'd ever known. But I could always come back to visit; I don't think I could bear being away from Justin and the twins. The train honked its horn in the distance, and Jeremy got excited.
"A TWAIN! Mommy! It's a twain!"
Layla clapped her hands together, "Honk twain!"
As if on command, the train honked again, and the twins laughed.
It was the first and last time the twins would take the train, and it made me sad. Justin squeezed my hand reassuringly, and stroked the back of my hand with his thumb as the train came to a full stop in front of us. We waited as the doors opened and we entered the train. Nostalgia hit me like a tidal wave...

I boarded the Metro North train to Grand Central Station in Manhattan. I looked around for a seat but no one wanted to move their baggage for me. I frowned and adjusted the medium sized tote bag on my shoulder when someone called for my attention.
"Hey, um, you can sit next to me if thats okay."
I turn in the direction of the voice and see a boy about my age sitting in a five person section and resting his feet on the seat in front of him. He had on a gray hoodie, and a purple fitted cap, with black skinnies, and black converses. He looked like a criminal if I've ever seen one. I thought for a minute. Well there's no where else to sit...so I might as well...

The car was nearly empty, so we folded up the stroller and laid it on the floor between the double seats. Justin sat down first and rested his legs on the seat in front of him.


"Well...I kinda like to sing." He told me.
"Yet another thing we have in common, Stranger."
He smiled at me.
"You sing?"
"I dabble." I modestly stated. Holy shit I've known this guy for how long and I've already told him half of my life story.
"I wanna know about you. Tell me!"
I pouted my lips and he pouted back.
"How can I say no to that face?"
"You can't." I batt my eyelashes.
"Okay if I tell you something you promise not to scream?"
My mouth formed the shape of an 'O'.
"Oh my god! You killed someone."
He laughed and it sent chills down my body. The good kind...
"No, I didn't kill anyone. Just, promise me you won't scream."
I pretended to zip my lips and lock the corner.
"Okay." He pulled up his hood and took of his sunglasses, his back facing everyone else.
"Well, look at that, its Justin Bieber." I play gasped, perfectly unamused.


Layla sat in his lap and was playing with his hair. I smiled and took a picture. I wanted to capture all of it. The look of love in Justin's eyes as he smiled at our daughter, the way her small hand ruffled his light brown hair, the way Jeremy was struggling to climb into the seat next to his daddy, and how Justin picked him up and sat him down. As the train began to pull away from the station, I picked Jeremy up from his spot, and sat him on my lap after I took his place. Justin played with the bobbles on the end of Layla's pigtails. It was a peaceful moment on the train. I looked over at him to find that he was already staring at me, and I grinned. I raised up my wrist and jingled the charm bracelet. Over the years, we added more charms. After the dog, was the tiny ring, then, when I had the twins, he gave me a two hearts. One had a pink stone, the other a blue stone. The train charm glittered in the sunlight and I felt the tears dripping from my cheeks.

Jeremy tugged at Justin's shirt and pointed at me. His eyes were glistening and threatened to tear up, because whenever mommy cried, Jeremy cried.
"I'm okay, Jer. See?" I smiled through the tears. It was bittersweet. I felt Justin's eyes on my face and he wiped away my tears with his thumb. Gentle as ever, he turned my head towards his and kissed me on the lips.
"EW! DADDY!" Layla covered her eyes and Jeremy did the same. I giggled and pressed my hands to his cheeks, kissing him back. I pulled away and pecked him on the lips.
"I love you." I murmured.
"I love you too." He bit his bottom lip and smiled.
"Me too?" Layla cried.
"Yes you too." I replied.
"And me?" Jeremy tugged at my shirt.
I tickled his stomach, "Of course I love my little man." I smothered him in kisses, as Layla cuddled into Justin's chest like she did when she was baby.
"Mama," Jeremy rested his head on my chest, "I like the twain."
I rubbed his back lovingly.
"I'm glad."

I agree, your style has matured and that's really a good thing
Looking back at what u wrote, you shouldn't be ashamed, I'm 17 now and what I used to write was embarrassing and honestly, really really bad. But it's a learning experience

I truly do love this story and if you must end it soon then oh well but I really appreciated it the whole way though and Im sure i'll come back and read it again next year or the year after <3

Ohmygosh. I read it for the second time this summer and it's more amazing than I remember. This is honestly the best fan fiction that I've ever read. Thanks for making such a wonderful story. You're an amazing writer. c:

Aww thanks I wish I felt the same way when I re-read it. I wrote it two years ago, and I've changed a lot as a writer, so I can't help but cringe a little when I read it again.
