Chapter One~It's a love story
I sat in the passanger seat of my mothers white pathfinder driving up north. It was the middle of summer. Thursday June 30th, to be exact. Usually I don't keep track of what day it is during the summer, but this summer feels like it's just dragging on. I actually want school to start again since all my friends are on vacation. I set my head on the cool window with the vent blowing cool air in my face.
My mom looked at me. "Aw come on Aidan. A weekend at the lakehouse will be fun. You used to love it there."
I rolled my eyes. My mom was dragging me to go visit her friend, Pattie and their family in Canada. Stupid, I know.
"Mommy does the lake have sharks?" my little sister, Britta asked from the backseat.
I turned around in my seat and looked at her. She was sitting in her carseat in her little blue sundress. "Yes Brit. There's big sharks in the lake and they love to eat little seven year olds."
Britta started to cry a little. "I don't wanna be eated!"
I rolled my eyes. "Britta, honey, there are no sharks in the lake. Your sister is just being a brat." my mom snapped at me.
I smirked. "I dunno why we have to go to Canada. It's nice and warm in LA." my younger brother, Dominic, commented from the backseat while staring at his PSP.
"It's not cold this time of year. It'll be like we're home, alright?" my mom let out a sigh.
I turned back around and folded my arms across my chest. About twenty minutes later, we pulled up to this big house on the lake. It was nice. The house was almost like a log cabin. We all got out of the car and I pulled my phone out and called my friend, Stephanie.
"You won't believe where my mom just dragged me."
"Canada, I know Ay. But who knows, maybe it'll be fun?"
I laughed a littled. "Yeah, easy for you to say Miss 'I'm back in LA enjoying the sun and the beach.'"
"Ha. Alright Ay. Well I'll talk to you later."
I hung up and put my phone in my shorts pocket and followed my mom around the house.
"Anne!" a woman said with a smile, hugging my mom. Then the woman looked at me. "Oh Aidan, you grew so much since I last saw you."
I nodded. "Yup."
My mom looked at me. "Aidan, you remember Pattie. Justin's mom?"
"Oh speaking of Justin, the kids are down by the lake. Come on." Pattie said. Dominic and I followed Pattie down to the sandy beach that led to the edge of the lake. There were four boys there. Three seemed my age and the other seemed about Dom's age. And then a girl who looked about the same age as me. "Justin, this is Miss Anne's kids. Dominic and Aidan."
A boy with brown hair and a flat brim cap on looked at us. Obviously Justin. "Hey." He walked over to us and flashed a smile. Pattie smiled at him then walked back up to the house. "Uh, Aidan, Dominic...this is Ryan, Chaz, Christian and Caitlin." he said, motioning his hand to them. They all smiled.
I nodded. I walked over and sat down in a plastic chair under a tree. Justin walked over and sat down in the sand. "So, y'all are from LA?"
I nodded again. "Yup."
"So...do you like it here?" he asked.
I laughed a little. "You sure ask a lot of questions."
He smiled. His teeth were white and his smile showed off his dimples. "Okay, sorry. Last question...you know I'm famous, right?"
I slowly nodded. "Yeah, you're that Bieber kid."
Justin smiled at me once more. One of the other boys came over and looked at me. "Who's this Justin?"
He looked up at him. "Ryan, that's Aidan. Were you not here like, five minutes ago?"
Ryan shook his head. "No I was over there somewhere trying to find something." he said, waving his hand toward some trees.
I laughed a little.
"Kids! Dinner!" Pattie shouted from the house.
We all went inside. It was really night inside. It was all wood and it was just cozy. Like something you'd see in a movie or a home living magazine. It smelled really good. A man with tattoos up and down his arms came past us with a plate of food. "C'mon. We're gonna eat outside on the back deck. We followed him outside on the back deck where plates of food sat on the table.
"Uh dad, this is Aidan and Dominic. Miss Anne's kids." Justin said to the man.
He looked at us and nodded. "I'm Jeremy."
I nodded and sat down.
We ate then it got dark out. The boys were setting up a bonfire in the yard. I sat on the ground next to Caitlin wrapped in a blanket. "So you're Aidan, right?" Caitlin asked me. I nodded. "I'm Caitlin. But you knew that." I rolled my eyes. Who the hell does she think she is? "I dated Justin, y'know. And I go on tour with him all the time."
I just wanna hit her right now. I'm not gonna be able to last a day listening to that. Justin walked over and sat down next to me. "You guys want some smores?"
Mmm. I loved smores. I smiled and nodded. Chaz and Ryan walked down to us with a bag of marshmallows, chocolate and a box of crackers. Ryan threw a marshmallow into the fire. Justin glared at him. Ryan just stood there. "What?"
Justin shook his head and laughed. Then he looked at me. "Wanna come help me find some sticks to use?"
I shook my head. "I'm actually really tired from the ride. I'm gonna go to bed." I stood up with the blanket still wrapped around me and walked into the house. My mom showed me to the room I'd be staying in. I was going to be bunking with Caitlin. Oh joy. I lay down on the airmatress on the floor and curled up under the blanket. I wanted to go home. Justin is a cute kid. And to think, my mom's friends son is the famous Justin Bieber. Caitlin makes me want to strangle her and Ryan and Chaz are just dorks. I guess they're pretty cool people. Only tomorrow will tell.
